The Policy Committee of the Chaffee County EDC is proud to be an advocate for live music, both as a uniting factor in our community and as a significant economic driver for businesses and their employees. On July 9th we attended the Chaffee BOCC meeting where the commissioners gave conditional approval for a new two-day concert taking place June 27th & 28th, 2025 at The Meadows. In this article we’re featuring what we said about the most recent permit application from the South Main Arts & Trust and why we believe the positive impacts live music has on our County are significant and lasting.

The Chaffee County EDC’s Policy Committee supports thoughtfully produced live music events at The Meadows. In today’s economy, quality of life and a diverse cultural experience draw talented people, which in turn supports a vibrant business community. The positive impacts for the County are significant and lasting: Live music creates a dynamic brand for the valley and attracts a diverse population of residents and visitors.

In terms of pure economics, live music is a draw in Chaffee County which can bring a sizable economic impact. For example, one recent local festival showcased the economic benefit to both the public and private sector: A report commissioned by Live Nation in November 2019 indicated that a three-day 11,404-person festival created a $13.6 million economic impact and supported 144 jobs, delivering $1.25 million in state and local taxes.

Importantly, we have seen that The Meadows and its sister venues have continued to attract top level artists and host well executed events while respecting their neighbors.

Creating any successful business in Chaffee County is challenging, and we ask that you support live music at The Meadows and this growing industry here as a whole.
